Associate Reflection | 7 Attributes

By Stephen Flatt

One of the unique characteristics of The Resource Group is our 7 Attributes. These attributes define who we are, how we operate, how we work, and how we treat each other. I’ve worked for and with multiple organizations throughout my career, and each of those organizations has a mission statement or a set of core values. However, I’ve never before witnessed or experienced an organization that works more tirelessly to model those attributes so carefully in all areas of the organization. We have a tendency to be very meticulous about who we hire, as our associates must demonstrate the 7 Attributes during the interview process. Because of this commitment to those standards, our associates tend to share and demonstrate a shared purpose and value system.
My favorite attribute is “Nice”. Having spent time in large publicly traded organizations, being “nice” would be an odd attribute. However, in this organization, we delight in individuals who are nice. Being nice does not mean you are weak, but that you are a servant and you serve others with a servant’s heart. Being nice means demonstrating kindness to others and simply having a caring attitude. Because of the importance of this attribute and our dedication to upholding it, we’ve created a mission-focused organization of servant leaders who are dedicated to finding creative

solutions for our customers. We work hard, treat others with respect, and aggressively and creatively seek ways to lower the cost of healthcare for our customers and facilities. Accomplishing these tasks is not easy by any means, but it is much more rewarding doing this work with others who share and demonstrate a common and focused set of values.

Our 7 Attributes

Nice - Has a good heart and treats others with respect, helping individuals not simply to have a better day but to have a better life.
Bright - Is able to take complexity and make it simple. Has the ability to see the solution without being encumbered by the detail or the size of the challenge.
High Energy - Is motivated and driven by the work that we are doing; contagiously energetic yet controlled enough to create a balanced working environment.
Inclusive - Realizes that many things can be accomplished alone yet much more can be achieved together.
Willing to Give Away Power - Respects the abilities of others and is enthusiastic in recognizing them for their contributions; humble with the desire to be a part of something for the greater good.
Inspired by Mission - Realizes that the cause is greater than the sum of the transactions.
Invigorated by Change - Is energized by a fast-paced environment, the opportunity to rework a process, and positively impact the future; consistently asks, “What else can I do?”
